I got some good deals on frozen veggie food at Target today; they had some Amy’s Kitchen Spinach Feta Pockets on clearance for .98! I used the 1.00/2 Amy’s Kitchen coupons I had from Sunflower’s free Taste for Life magazines, so they ended up being .48 each. Considering that these usually run about 2.00 each, this was a pretty good deal. I also used some of my Mambo Sprouts booklet coupons, I ended up getting two packages of Boca Burgers for 1.24 each, and some FruitBü fruit snacks for 1.54.
Boca Burgers x 2 2.48 (MQ 2 x 1.00/1)
FruitBü x 1 1.54 (MQ 1.00/1)
Morningstar Farms Corndogs x 2 3.98 (TQ 2.00/2)
Amy’s Kitchen Pockets x 10 4.80 (MQ 2 x 1.00/2)
Old El Paso Taco Seasoning x 3 .48 (Was on clearance)
Total: 13.28
At Sunflower I mostly purchased produce. I only used one coupon, and that was on Organic Valley eggs.
Provolone 1.20
Tofurkey Slices 2.29
Shredded Parmesan 1.92
Green Onions .50
Broccoli .42
Avocadoes x 2 1.98
Bananas 1.20
Tomatoes 1.48
Limes x 9 .90
Organic Valley Eggs 3.69 (MQ 1.00/1)
Total: 14.58
I am very happy with the Organic Valley coupons in the Mambo Sprouts booklet; it brings the cost of cage-free eggs down to a very reasonable level. We rarely drink cow’s milk (we drink soy milk instead, and occasionally Organic Valley milk), and I won’t buy non-cage free eggs. Although we are by no means vegans, I personally try to minimize the amount of dairy and eggs from unknown sources that I consume. This has a lot of health benefits, as I eat a whole lot less junk food, and more fruits and veggies! I used to eat a lot of junk, but after I became a vegetarian a few years ago, I’ve noticed many positive changes in my health, not to mention in my waistline.
